Import Media and Create a Sequence in Premiere Pro

Go to the Window menu, point to Workspaces, and click Editing. Do this even if Editing already has a dot next to it.

Open Window › Workspaces again and click Reset to Saved Layout.

In the Project panel in the lower-left corner, click the blue Import media button.

In the import window, use the location pop-up at the top to go to Desktop. Then double-click your project folder (here, 1450 Project 2 Premiere).

If the files aren't in a list, click the view menu arrow in the window's toolbar and choose List.

Click the disclosure arrow next to your student project folder so its numbered subfolders appear. Then expand 02 Video to see the Drone Footage 720p folder inside it.

Select the 02 Video folder and click Import in the lower-right corner of the window.

In the Project panel, click the arrow next to 02 Video. Then click the arrow next to Drone Footage 720p to see all of your clips.

Double-click the icon to the left of a clip's name, such as Fisk Drone 3-720p. The clip opens in the Source monitor in the upper left.

Press Space to play or pause. Press J to play backward and L to play forward. Tap J or L several times to rewind or fast-forward faster.

If you click a clip's name, Premiere switches to rename mode. If you double-click empty space in the Project panel, another import window opens. If that happens, hit the Escape key on your keyboard to cancel

Click a clip's icon to select it, then press ⇧O. This also opens the clip in the Source monitor so you can preview it.

In the lower-left corner of the Project panel, click Icon View. Double-click a bin's folder icon to open it. You'll see a thumbnail of each clip.

Drag the slider at the bottom of the Project panel to make the thumbnails bigger or smaller.

Click List View at the bottom of the panel. Then click the Name column header to sort the clips alphabetically. Click it again to reverse the order.

Click the up-arrow folder icon next to the path at the top of the panel. Keep clicking until the path reads My Project.prproj, then click List View.

Click Finder in the Dock, then press ⇧⌘D to go to your Desktop. You can also click Desktop in the sidebar.

Double-click your project folder (1450 Project 2 Premiere) and expand your student project folder so the numbered subfolders show. Place the Finder window so you can still see the Project panel.

Drag the 03 Audio Sources folder from Finder into the Project panel in Premiere.

Drag the 04 Graphics folder into the Project panel the same way. Your project now has bins for 02 Video, 03 Audio Sources, and 04 Graphics.

Click the search box at the top of the Project panel and type fisk. The panel then shows only the items whose names contain that word.

Click the X at the right end of the search box to clear the filter and see all of your media again.

Go to File › New and click Sequence….

On the Sequence Presets tab, expand Legacy › Digital SLR › 720p and click DSLR 720p24.

Click the Sequence Name field and type the same name as your project, for example 1450-LastName-FirstName-Project2. Click OK or press Return.

If the new sequence ends up inside a bin, expand that bin and drag the sequence icon out to the top level of the Project panel.

The empty 1450-…-Project2 timeline is open with tracks V1–V3 and A1–A3, and the Program monitor shows the sequence name. The Project panel lists the 02 Video, 03 Audio Sources, and 04 Graphics bins, with the sequence at the top level.
